Physically Protective Aspects of The Mermaid Biometric Access Device The Mermaid biometric lock features a very heavy duty body in an integrated solid structure which provides the utmost of security. Unlike some competitive products, we do not use any plastic parts in the body, as plastic is of course more vulnerable to breakage. The Mermaid's outer body is finished with a heavy-duty zinc alloy coated in a technologically advanced "nanotech" material. This coating contributes to both its beautiful exterior and its ruggedness. It allows the Mermaid to resist corrosion, weathering and fading. The pure stainless steel mechanical rotating latch is designed for service life beyond a decade. Weight The heavy duty Mermaid weighs in at 4.27 kilograms, or 9.4 pounds. The solid cast structure contributes to this, and is typically a least 0.5mm thicker than competitor’s doorlocks. The Cylinders of the door alone weigh in at 0.84 kg (or 1.85 pounds).
"The Mermaid is also a breeze to operate on a day-to-day basis, making secure premises entry a pleasure rather than just another daily burden." Front-of-Door Protection
A specially designed, tailed fitting on the double-orbit sliding cover glides open with effortlessness and reliability, to reveal the biometric sensor surface (the fingerprint scanner), which is highly resistant to abrasion. Also visible now is the industry standard twelve-digit keypad ready for your data entry if you so choose (such as a PIN number). The full keypad facilitates ease of operation and familiarity. Slide the Mermaid's cover up and you will automatically activate the lock circuitry, which then becomes ready for your input of fingerprint or PIN. The solid and well fitting sliding exterior cover feature further protects the outer control elements of the unit from both the harsh elements as well as small particle ingress. Meanwhile, the higher spectral frequency of the blue light used in The Mermaid is optimal for operation in the presence of strong exterior light sources. Technological advancement in the central control unit sees a reduction in its size, with consequent design and security advantages. A sealing of the electronic control module with an epoxy material results in the prevention of moisture and corrosion to this critical electronic component. The epoxy's high resilience also prevents interconnection problems from occurring, should the lock encounter shock forces. Design excellence means that only one interconnection conduit runs between internal and external bodies of The Mermaid. The Mermaid has a wide range of operational temperature and humidity. Its working temperatures are between -30 degrees Celcius and 80 degrees Celcius (-22 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit) with a working relative humidity at less than 90%. Ask us for details about our high performance in thermal endurance testing. This robust and high quality build is only reinforced by the security technology that drives the Mermaid.
